How to stop wasting your life
No BS guide on productivity
Many people spend their time on unnecessary things. Not only this makes you lose time- you also lose focus and energy.
Yes working hard and getting a lot of work done is good. But what really matters is the things that move your life for the better.
That sounds counter intuitive from someone who works almost 12 hours a day however - I’ve understood that work quantity alone does not guarantee results.
I spent a year writing my first newsletter and it failed. I spent a year growing my old X account and it didn’t work out.
I made 0$. But when I decided to pivot - writing newsletters after 3 months I made my first 100$. I had the skill of writing. So it stacked over it.
But that’s not what I want to talk about today. Imagine this: if you’re broke finding a job will make your finances breathe. If you hate your job - building an online business that earns while you sleep will help you say fuck to your boss.
Avoiding unnecessary things and focusing on what matters is the cheat code many people ignore. Complexity only applies to big corporations. That’s why if you want to be productive you need to think in simple terms.
What work to do? → Do it.
Systems only apply later once you’ve been consistent.
Here’s what I mean—
For those who think being a high performer is impossible, it makes sense for you to think that working for 6-12 hours a day non-stop is impossible. I say you are wrong.
I spend my whole day working. I also used to think working for that long is impossible. The reason for this is lack of exposure and environmental conditioning.
People who think being productive throughout the day is impossible - because they themselves and the the people around them haven’t done it. So because of that—they either think it’s not possible to attain.
Because it hasn’t been validated. That’s why people are obsessed with proof, or reference. We only believe in something if it exists (if we see it with our own eyes).
That’s why if you haven’t personally witnessed someone spend their time all day productively—you will not believe it’s possible. I know and understand this feeling because I used to believe that as well - until I saw how long my father worked. He worked jobs he hated and yet he stayed discipline.
Productivity is less not more.
In business, there’s something called leverage. If you have leverage—you can get more results with less effort.
In your life you have points of leverage you can take.
If you are skinny and you start working-out—then by building a good physique- you build leverage on your looks and confidence.
If you have brain fog then—not eating sugar and carbs will help you gain leverage with your focus that can help you work faster with creative tasks
The way you should think about this is: “What’s something I can do today that will help my future self” (that’s your leverage).
Leverage simply means = getting more with the same input.
If I post in a 100 follower IG page the normal range of likes I will usually get is 20-40 but if I post the same video in a 100k follower page I will get over 5-10k likes normally.
That’s what you call leverage. Same work yet massive different results.
It applies to life and not just in business.
You have limited energy
I used to believe that working hard alone would guarantee me results. Wrong.
Working hard on the right things is what brings you results.
Life is distributed by 80% of unecessary work and 20% necessary work. What you need to do is flip the 80 to 20 rule. Find 80% of the work that really matters and ignore the 20% that you can delay.
This is why wealthy people hire maids, chefs and personal instructors so they can focus on what really matters. If you have money by all means hire people. If not - then you got to hustle first.
It makes me think about how I used to spend 2 hours engaging on X for over a year and never making a buck.
When I quit X (Twitter) I built my account to over 2k followers. It was a painful experience but looking back - it was a needed action. If I stayed stuck to that account while working blindlessly and engaging on the wrong things - I would’ve made the same mistake of not pivoting when I needed it most.
That’s why you need to curate where your energy goes meticulously.
You have to be wise about it.
Through out the day your energy bar gets depleted like your battery in your phone. 50% goes from the first 5 hours of the day. And the other half is distributed evenly during afternoon and night.
That’s why doing your most important work during the day is optimal - The moment you wake up is the moment you have the most energy to do creative work (unless you have thrash sleep schedule).
This is why deleting things that don’t need your attention is crucial. If you had to take out the thrash, deal with that email, and answer your boss calling you before waking while doing your work at the same time - you lose energy and focus that could’ve made your work quality higher.
That’s why personally when I work in my room I tell my family not to disturb me. They know I’m here working hard getting food in our table. I’m not here watching porn wasting my time on useless shit when I could be making money.
I make sure to protect my energy during the morning. It’s not perfect. There are days where life gets in the way however most of the time I protect my mornings like my life depends on it (because it does).
That brings us to another topic about focus
How focus works
When you do your work and get distracted you no longer have the same focus that you have a moment ago. This is even worse to those who have OCD and ADHD.
When you work - make sure that you cannot be disturbed unless it’s an emergency. Because focus gets depleted fast when you get distracted and gets up slowly when working. It takes at least 20-30 minutes to get back into flow.
The flow state is like a trance. You don’t feel the time. You feel numb to what your hands are doing and it feels second nature.
It’s when skill meets challenge.
When the challenge is too hard you—quit. When the challenge is too easy—you get bored.
And when the challenge is just enough for your skill—you get into flow state.
I personally experience flow when I write my newsletters and when I do art. I experience a kind of ecstasy when I love doing my work. Not the drug type but the kind of emotion you feel when your Mother gives you affection (pure bliss and joy).
Here’s a visual representation of it:

The flow state takes time to happen. Usually 30 minutes to 1 hour of focusing on work.
When I write my newsletter I make sure to give a budget of 2 hours. I usually get it done in 1 hour but I give a one hour allowance.
That’s for distractions and things that you have to deal with.
When flow happens you won’t feel it. You won’t even recognize it but you can see it after you’ve exited that trance.
You will see your work and wonder how you did it. You will look at it again and somehow forget how you achieve such technique, skill or level unconsciously.
That’s why when you focus and enter the flow state—you must protect it.
You need to guard it at all costs because that’s where best results come from.
My best letters come when I get uninterrupted time for 2 hours. I write continually, ideas flow non-stop and my ability to connect multiple topics skyrockets.
That’s why protecting your focus is a skill.
And that’s why you should—

Put your phone in do not disturb
The only notification I like receiving is when I get sales and money. So the only app I allow with notifications is email and paypal (including calls and message from my family—the rest I don’t care)
Giving your time to everyone is not worth it. Your brain when it says “what if I miss out on X?”,” What if this happens?” is just some excuse you have to stay in the same comfort zone.
If an emergency really did happen your family will not just text you but call you.
Even then notifications on social media is not needed. You have What’s app and other messaging apps directly tied to your telecom.
Putting my phone on do not disturb mode not only made my work quality 10x better my focus has gone through the roof.
Overstimulation takes away your ability to connect dots and ideas that could result to something novel.
You can keep a few apps open. But for social media apps - just delete them or keep all notification silent.
Those little ding dong sounds steal your energy, focus and time. They are not worth your attention. They are engineered to get you addicted and hooked for as long as possible. Even I run my business on social media and I have all notifications turned off (you have no excuses).
When you do this make sure you tell your family in advance and let them know you don’t have notifications on and they should either call or message you.
My Father does this. He doesn’t use social media and he’s alive, happy and well.
It’s all in your head.
When you start priotizing your time understand that: Offending people is normal
Back when I wasn’t earning money yet - my family would always disturb me and disrespect my boundaries. I knew it was going to be like this until I had real results.
Throwback to 2 weeks ago now that I earn a months salary in a week - the very same family that used to disturb me now care hard for me.
It’s a normal occurence and you shouldn’t blame your family. It’s kind of a tick that all people get when someone tells you not to do something and still do it.
Still - it will irritate you and offend most people. So just be ready when that happens.
People don’t believe in something until it becomes real. That’s why most people laugh on business men who have grand visions. It’s all stems from ignorance and hopeless behavior.
No need to be offended by it. Just use it all as fuel.
Just understand not all people have the same mindset as using the day productively as you do.
Action Plan: Here’s what you should do
Write down 2-3 things that you will get done every morning before 9am hits. My answer would be: Write my newsletter, create IG videos and post in reddit. This takes me at least 2-3 hours to do combined and it has moved the needle in my life rapidly. Don’t aim to work 12 hours everyday. It’s took me years to get here. Start small instead.
Put your phone on do not disturb now. Just do it don’t ask questions or make excuses. Protect your focus.
Do an audit every week. What I like doing every Sunday is I take a look at what how I spent my week. Then I will write down what I can eliminate and what I should double down on. If a certain style is doing well - I will 2x my output on that. If a strategy is not working then I will delete it.
Test your energy. Take note of: When you feel the most energetic (do your most important work here), when you feel the lowest (energy crash out and take breaks here) and when your day should end. My day usually ends at 8pm after I journal then I draw. This is different than everyone so make sure to spend at least a week looking at your energy levels and write it down on a book.
That’s it.
If you have other topics you’d like me to talk about let me know and reply to this email.
