You need delusional self-belief

Believing in yourself is a skill many people lack

This week I doubled my income. And before that week I didn't believe I could (not including affiliate sales).

If I haven't told you yet - I market an app

Here's some proof if you don't believe me:

How we did last month. All organic no paid ads. (October)

This November all organic

How much I made last week:

You can think it's fake or not, I don't really care

Now I'm not bragging nor I want to make you feel like I'm arrogant. I'm telling you all of this was possible was because I believed in myself

For the past 2 months I've been stuck on the same income. Partly due to not pitching my services more.

I want to tell you that I got delusional last week. I was having some trouble about getting an expensive service to buy so I thought to myself "what If I just double my income?".

I was influenced by a blog I read about "so many people try to cut down their expenses when they could've just earned more". That woke me up.

It just rang and rang in my head until I couldn't stop but act on it. A week later it happened.

All because I believed I could do it.

This also makes me remember the time where I was overweight and have failed twice. And as I remember the past—it was because I didn't really believe I could lose weight.

When pandemic hit I blasted Zyzz motivational songs for 3-4 hours a day. No I'm not joking. I did listen that long.

That hype made me believe I could lose weight. For the first time I saw hope that it was possible.

I was also brainwashing myself constantly by watching weight lost transformations. (It helps).

We're getting off topic here so let's start.

The Unlived Life

"The world is full of people suffering from the effects of their own unlived life. They become bitter, critical, or rigid, not because the world is cruel to them, but because they have betrayed their own inner possibilities. The artist who never makes art becomes cynical about those who do. The lover who never risks loving mocks romance. The thinker who never commits to a philosophy sneers at belief itself. And yet, all of them suffer, because deep down they know: the life they mock is the life they were meant to live".

-Carl Jung

Many people have lost self-confidence and often mess up not because they are incompetent but because they believe they will fail.

The unlived life is being anxious about the future you could be living.

  • "If only I had the courage to talk to that girl"

  • "If only I had the courage to go against the path my parents wanted"

  • "If only I didn't listen to what other people were telling me to do and did what I wanted"

If only..

This is why most boomers are always angry and irritated for no reason. They have unlived dreams they wanted to achieve. And because they aren't living it—it pains them everyday.

Your parents could be one of them.

They wanted to be a doctor. But couldn't. Now they want you to be one so they can at least pass the burden and see that their efforts were not in vain while not realizing they are hurting (you) their children.

It's very common in Asian countries. Parents pressuring their children to take on paths they failed to take.

I once read a reddit post about a guy almost ending his life because he failed to get into one of the prestigious college.

He wasn't Asian but Indian. If you've seen the Movie 3 idiots—it actually reveals a lot about Indian society.

The unlived life causes people to be miserable. Because the calling, thirst and desire to fulfill their dreams is never met.

The result is misery and constant sadness. With time it becomes resentment.

You can never be happy unless you are working for something much bigger than yourself.

A mission and a lifetime goal in life makes you happy, energetic and fulfilled. Other times it also makes you rich.

Look up Elon Musk. If you want to learn —learn from great people.

He dreams of going to Mars. And to get to Mars you need a lot of money to fund rocket building and hiring exceptional engineers.

He uses money as a stepping stone not as the goal itself.

What you think becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy

"Removing any negative self-beliefs about yourself is the easiest way to improve your position and get one step closer to the life you want to live. Wish this tweet was a joke"

-@thebeautyofsaas

How you think about yourself determines your performance. Be it professionally or personal productivity.

Our self-image is tied to our behavioral and cognitive thinking. If you think of yourself as a loser you will adapt behaviors that indicate that you are actually a loser even if not.

It happens. Look at people bullying nerds and saying mean things about them. Then watch as that nerd acts out what the bullies are telling them.

You can also see this in your workplace. If someone is passive aggressive, say they often do back handed compliments—the person on the receiving end will end up acting upon that comment.

This happens a lot to women. They mostly pick on the attractive and timid girl who doesn't know how to fight back.

Even if the said girl is attractive—if she always gets insults and mean comments about her being ugly—that attractive girl will start to think she is ugly even if she isn't.

Social pressure and group thinking is a strong influence. When you are being operated inside or getting ganged up by peers—be sure to be aware and protect yourself.

What they repeatedly say becomes your identity—that's why its so dangerous.

Believing in myself got me results

“It would be impossible even to estimate the number of jobs which have been lost, the number of promotions missed, the number of sales not made, the number of marriages ruined by poor attitudes. But you can number in the millions the jobs which are held but hated, the marriages which are tolerated but unhappy, the lives which are accepted but unwanted – all because of people who are waiting for others to change their attitudes first. “For a person with the right attitude, there is no such thing as a failure. There are only learnings. Every experience carries within it the seed of an equal or greater benefit. We get what we expect, and our attitude determines what we expect. The person with a positive attitude expects success, and because of this, they find ways to achieve it. Attitude is the reflection of the person inside.”

Ever since I lose weight my confidence shot up.

I didn't believe that I would magically get abs and get jacked in 3-6 months. I believed that it will at least take me 2 years.

And my goal was to lose 10 kg. During that time I didn't know much about nutrition and how calorie deficit worked. I just balled.

Ever since I lost weight. I just couldn't stop believing in myself.

Even when it came to my personal business I still believed I could do it even if I didn't have experience as long as I figured it out.

I didn't have experience in reddit but in just under 6 months of posting there I grew The Improvement Letter to over 1.4k subscribers. I was delusional and I am glad I was. It brought me results, money and confidence.

I had to learn website building, copy writing and email marketing.

I've written over 100+ reddit posts that have gone viral.

Was everything smooth sailing? No, of course not. 2 months ago I struggled to get going.

I didn't know what to do and my posts were lacking. What fixed this was reading quality work. The quotes I've been quoting lately is from the app substack.

The creators are full of depth. It's like early twitter when it wasn't full of rage bait.

Most the articles I read there are worth it. No clickbait but genuine value.

Say no to what makes your life worse

Anything that challenges you to be weak and docile should be avoided. This goes to casual sex, going out to parties and getting drunk and laying down on your coach all day to chill.

Being always on chill makes you weak.

Men grow from pressure and stress.

Not too much that it kills you—but just enough to take action and progress.

Ever

yone has individual limits.

I can never know your limit and tell you when to stop unless you try it yourself.

My limit when it comes to working in my personal business is 3 weeks of 12 hours of work everyday.

Then after that I will either burn out or stop altogether. Around week 4 is where I start to take a break and regain my momentum by taking 3-4 days a break. I still work but not as much. Only half the time, which is 5-6 hours a day.

If you are currently in the phase where you are just figuring out what to do at life and improving yourself, the first step is this: "Say no to everything that makes your life worse".

Great content changes your mind and life

I am forever thankful that the internet was made.

I got access to high quality information that you will not find in local libraries.

Reading about spirituality earned me peace. Reading about self-help content earned my confidence. Reading about philosophy earned me critical thinking skills.

I am forever in debt to the many writers I've read and to the topics I've digested. I am able to write deeply, straight forward and philosophically at times—all because I discovered content that provoked original thought.

I know what it's like to be lost in the average mindless consumption where you watch pranks and vlogs that don't improve yourself. It's fun at first but after the 5 or 10th video it gets dull fast.

Sterling explains it best:

"Algorithms influence more than we realize. They determine what we see, what we ignore, and what we consider important. And we rarely have a say in the matter. This breeds passivity. We scroll. We consume. Rarely do we stop to think, question, or dig deeper. Even worse, we start to play along. We craft tweets, posts, and photos not to express ourselves, but to get likes, clicks, and attention. Every reaction feeds someone else’s bottom line. Every notification gives us a tiny rush of dopamine, and we chase it again. It’s addictive. Over time, the rush dulls. The feed speeds up. Noise piles up. We stop noticing. We stop caring. Then, we look for comfort. We drift toward content that soothes rather than challenges us, content that shelters us from surprise. Art becomes optional. Curiosity becomes rare. Emotions become scarce. The system isn’t broken. We are."

-@sterlingthinks

If you feed your mind with quality content, not rage bait and click bait sooner or later your mind will adapt to different worldviews and it will help you in ways you've never thought of.

It happened to me and it will happen to you.

Yhprum's Law

"is an optimistic principle that states, "Anything that can work, will work". It is the reverse of Murphy's law and suggests that when one takes action, opportunities can arise and things can work out, even if they initially seem improbable. It encourages a proactive and hopeful mindset, often used in contexts like entrepreneurship to motivate action and persistence in the face of potential challenges"

When I think I will lose I end up losing. When I think I will win I end up winning.

Life has a funny way of working out. Just this week ago I thought I wouldn't hit 1k new members in a sub-reddit I was growing. The next day it hit 1.3k members. The next day again it hit 2.4k members.

I didn't even think I'd hit more than 500 members in the first week. Like I mentioned above I do client work at marketing apps and growing sub-reddits.

If you'd like, I can also teach you how

When you believe in yourself good things happen. Visualizing about getting success works, if you put in effort and action.

Until then you have to master that law

Action Step:

  • Take a notebook and Write down your vision by answering these questions:

    • If you were a billionaire what would you keep doing?

    • What kind of place do you want to live in? Do you want to travel or not? Do you want to live in the woods? Do you want to live in the mountains? Be specific

    • What would your average day look like?

    • Do you want a family? If so, how many children? What would your day to day life look like with your family?

    • If you could do anything other than work a job and still make an income what would it be?

    • How do you want your body to look? Muscular? Shredded?

    • List out everything that you do not like with yourself.

    • List out everything that you can change with yourself.

    • List out everything that comes to mind when you want to build your specific future

  • From the answers you've written down understand, everything you've written down is actionable. You might think it's impossible and unrealistic, however if you cannot believe that you can achieve it then you will not be able to. Today's letter is about delusional self-belief. We act when there is clarity, not when the perfect opportunity is present.

Good luck

See you next time,

-Noat
